These steps will walk you through setting up Windows 9x to reliably establish a PPP
connection.
- Download the TKA connection manger TKA.exe by clicking on it and
saving it to your system.
- Make sure you don't have a connection named TKA in your dialup networking, if there is
rename or delete it.
- Run the program downloaded in step 1 and follow the directions, the defaults are
normally the best choices.
Windows 2000, NT, XP:
- Create a connection in network places/connections for TKA
- On the Network tab of the connection properties click the settings button,
then UN-check the Enable LCP extentions.
- Download TKA.scp (right click, choose save target
as, save as: tka.scp).
- XP : On the Security tab at the bottom there is an option to use a script
file, browse to where you saved the above file.
- Save changes.
To connect to TKA (and the Internet) later just double click the TKA icon, The Internet
Icon, or any other program that uses the Internet connection.
There are a few reason this may happen:
- Your account has expired. Check
your account status (will require you to logon).
- You may have a typo in the URL you are trying to connect to.
- You may be trying to connect to a site that doesn't exist, is unreachable or is down.
There are a few possibilities:
- If you are idle for too long or have been online for over 2 hours and there are few open
lines, you may be disconnected by the server to allow others to use the line you are on.
- You could be having phone line trouble, while your not online pick a phone on the same
line as the computer and dial just one digit to silence the dial tone and listen to the
line, if you hear popping, clicking or buzzing then you have a line problem that you
should talk with your phone company about, this will also effect the speed of your
connections.
